Modern Luxury in a Timeless Log Home

The Fall 2025 Issue of Mountain Living featured an article titled “Log Story Short,” showcasing one of Cassandra’s more recent projects.  This newly built log home sits on 160 acres along the Arkansas River, offering stunning views of the Collegiate Peaks. Previously, the homeowners hired Cassandra to design their Victorian home, but for this project they had differing visions on the design style. The husband preferred a Western style home, while his wife leaned toward modern elegance.  Cassandra brought both visions to life by implementing a more modern look on the main floor and upper loft levels, and went all mountain western on the lower level, which features a saloon and wine room.

Meanwhile, Lohr brought the interiors to life by juxtaposing Western pieces with contemporary elements. ‘He wanted a Western log home and she wanted something more modern, with a touch of Western for the mountains,’ says Lohr of the homeowners. To reconcile the two visions, she adopted a transitional style on the main floor and loft, while leaning more heavily into a rustic aesthetic on the lower level, which includes a guest bedroom, living space, workspace and 800-bottle wine cellar.

Cassandra’s attention to detail and tireless efforts helped bring our vision to life! Her commitment was exceptional. She led the way with shopping and design ideas, materials selection as well as co-management of other design subcontractors as well as the placement of artwork to deliver to us a complete and upscale, western leaning look which has exceeded our expectations.
