Aspen Cabin Built for a Prince

The Prince (whose name we kept private) had a very clear vision about the design of the Cabin he would build. He wanted an authentically old “American cowboys and Indians” design scheme throughout the sprawling cabin. This was to be Cassandra’s first western themed home, and the client wanted to make sure she understood his vision. “If anything looks new, I’ll have to run over it in the driveway a few times, and put a few cigar burns on it too.” he said with a smile.

A project like this requires great creativity and the top artisans to be found. Understanding the mission, Cassandra traveled throughout the country in search of the best master craftsman in their field. This project inspired Cassandra’s own furniture and bedding collection which was first showcased at the Kneedler Fauchere showrooms in San Francisco and Denver.

As quoted in Architectural Digest“Lohr, who has worked on western-style interiors for clients such as a Saudi Arabian prince and ambassador to the United States, located the artisans during a visit to remote areas of Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. “Many of them take up to four months to carve something,” says Lohr. “They don’t have factories but work out of small shops, garages or backyards. One man makes log beds that take four men to move. The houses here are big. Nothing about this furniture is light.”

I want to commend you for the brilliant job that you did for us in the interior design and decoration of the Prince’s Aspen residence. We realize that the time constraints by us were formidable and yet you were able to completely design the interior and furnish the house within those constraints. You have handled all aspects of the project in a highly professional, creative, efficient and sensitive manner.
